Thank You for bearing with us this last month, we have made a lot of changes with having a new website and some things going on in the shop, and have been doing a few wedding fairs and photo shoot opportunities. But now we are ready to sit down and get a few blog ideas together and get them on here for you all to read.
We thought we would start with a blog on the wedding fairs we have been to over the last month.
This is the first Save The Date event we have taken part in, having looked at them previously but never going ahead. This year we decided to take that jump and try get our name out there a bit more.
The event took place within The Nottingham Conference Centre on the Trent University Site. There were Themed Zones, Live Entertainment, Seminars, A Prosecco Bar (Hard to stay away from!) and 3 Catwalk shows taking place throughout the day. If you have never attended one of these events before, we would thoroughly recommend it.
With this event starting at 10am we had to set up our stand on the Saturday, which meant closing the shop for half a day. Slightly nerve-racking closing on a Saturday and loosing out on appointments, but luckily we only had a few brides call about that day so we managed to fit everyone in.
We decided to go for a completely new look for this wedding fair so decided on a total Shabby Chic makeover. A major shopping spree at The Range, some “vintage” teacups from the charity shop, a new table-cloth from Beeston Fabric Store and we were ready to go! To finish off the look we had some custom letter bunting made by Kelly at Ditz&Bobs (Go check out her etsy shop)
Picking the dresses we were going to take proved slightly more difficult… We love them all so much, how do you choose without upsetting the others?!? The dresses taken for the models were slightly easier, as it was what would fit. All except one dress was on loan from the designers, and they all fit perfect… Well, some may have had a few pins in them.
The Mannequins on our stand on the other hand… That was a different story. With a vast selection of dresses in store, all gorgeous in their own way, what do you take to a show where there are going to be hundreds of brides, all with different ideas of what they want in a wedding dress? In the end we went with Ella Rosa “Chloe”, Kenneth Winston “Dannah” and Blue by Enzoani “Hollywood”.
Chloe has an amazing embroidered Venice Lace dropped bodice featuring small crystal and pearls, with an amazing tulle ball gown skirt. With her being Ivory and Café in colour, she stands out from the crowd.
Dannah is a more fitted “Column” dress. Featuring an illusion back she always goes down well when she is on a model.
Hollywood was a new dress in store and features a great open back. She is a 2 in 1 dress and the Mocha underslip shows off the Ivory lace brilliantly.
All three dresses went down a storm, and coincidentally, Chloe and Dannah were featured in the leaflets we were giving out on the day.
The dresses on the catwalk proved popular as well. We had 2 gorgeous Louise Bentley gowns, 2 Kenneth Winston and an amazing Lillian West dress, all beautifully modelled by the girls, so much so we were asked by The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club if they were able to use some for a photo shoot!
All in all, this event is a must for any brides diary. You get to meet some great suppliers, chat with other brides about ideas, and get the chance to sit and relax with a glass of bubbly, a cone of popcorn and realise what a great event your wedding is going to be!
Swancar Farm Country House – Open Evening Wednesday 11th March 2015
We have been taking part in Wedding Open Evenings at Swancar since the venue opened, we love the place and could happily move into their bridal suite!
Knowing the layout for the venue is a big help when it comes to setting up for wedding fairs. We know where our stand is going to be, how much room we will have & what dresses will go with the theme for the evening.
This is the first event we have taken our “Plus Size” mannequin, which we decided to showcase the Blue by Enzoani “Hamilton” dress. With its modified A-line shape and dipped neckline to compliment curves, bold lace design and scalloped lace hem, this dress creates a perfect romantic look.
We decided to take dresses which we have never featured at Swancar before, so making the cut along with Hamilton was another Blue by Enzoani dress “Hanoi” and Lillian West “Leigh”. We also got chance to show off Dannah again on our lovely live model Charlotte, check out the photos below!!
Hanoi is a strapless mermaid tail gown featuring intricate embroidered lace on the bodice and skirt, and a timeless beaded belt that accentuates the waist. Our sample features the pewter lace which we think shows off the detail beautifully.
Leigh is a strapless silk gown featuring a removable capped sleeve lace bolero. The dress itself features button detail that runs to the tip of the train, and comes with a veil with matching lace to the bolero. This dress is perfect if you want to have a different look for the evening.
Dannah again went down very well, Charlotte modelled her beautifully, and showing off her detail was a lot easier than rotating a mannequin!
We always enjoy taking part in the Swancar Open Evening, and this time was no different.
Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club – Photoshoot Wednesday 18th March 2015
The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club approached us following the catwalk show at the Save The Date Event.
They saw our Louise Bentley “Fedore” dress in the show and realised it would be perfect for their photo shoot.
Fedore is a silk lined gown, featuring a lace bodice and tulle skirt with lace appliqués. It is a ballerina length dress which made it perfect for the photo locations within the venue, without running the risk of needing dry cleaning after the event.
And because we can’t get enough of her at the moment, Dannah made another appearance.
The photos from this event are available to view Here
And How Do We Get To & From These Events?
We play the bridal version of Tetris… Level Fiat 500!
